Why God Chose the Black Man

2 Sam 18:19-22

Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said, "Let me run now and take the news to the king, how the Lord has avenged him of his enemies."

20 And Joab said to him, "You shall not take the news this day, for you shall take the news another day. But today you shall take no news, because the king's son is dead." 21 Then Joab said to the Cushite, "Go, tell the king what you have seen."

So the Cushite bowed himself to Joab and ran.

22 And Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said again to Joab, "But whatever happens,

please let me also run after the Cushite."

So Joab said, "Why will you run, my son, since you have no news ready?"

Why God Chose the Black Man

The Devaluation of the Black Man & the Loss of Identity

          Low self-esteem. Seek approval.

If Israel is God's Chosen People, what does that make me?

Become Resentful of a “Favored” People or their Identity

Being “Chosen” does not mean “Favorite”

1.    Chosen is equated to purpose

2.    Chosen is connected to time

Why was Israel chosen?

1.     To be a blessing to all the families of the earth

“In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed” – Gen 12:1-3

2.     “To declare His praises” – Is 43:21

3.     To be a light to the Gentiles – Is 42:6-7; 49:6

"I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, and will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, as a light to the Gentiles,

7 To open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the prison,

Those who sit in darkness from the prison house.

4.     To minister deliverance & salvation – Is 42:7 49:6

“That You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth.”

5.     To introduce strangers & foreigners to the One True God – 1 Kings 8:41-43

“Moreover, concerning a foreigner, who is not of Your people Israel, but has come from a far country for Your name's sake 42 (for they will hear of Your great name and Your strong hand and Your outstretched arm), when he comes and prays toward this temple, 43 hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You, that all peoples of the earth may know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and that they may know that this temple which I have built is called by Your name.”

6.  Make His House a House of Prayer for all Nations Isa 56:7-8

It’s not about your Genealogy, Color or Ethnicity

If you’re not doing what you are chosen & purposed to do

Israel lost sight of their purpose & became full of themselves

Deut 7:7-8

The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; 8 but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers.

Now, the Ekklesia (the Church) is “the Chosen”

1 Pet 2:9

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

We are not Plan B, after Israel became an enemy to the gospel – Rom 11:28

We were in God’s original plan, chosen from the beginning – Eph 1:4-6

Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

The Purpose for the "Ekklesia" is the same

1.     We carry the favor of God & are to be a blessing to others

2.     We are to “show forth His praises” – Eph 1:6

3.     We are to be a light to the world

4.     We are commissioned to take the Gospel to the whole world

5.     We are to minister salvation & deliverance

6.     Make His House a House of Prayer for All Nationalities

Of the Ekklesia, prophetically, this is the time for the Black man

God didn’t just used a Black man to touch the moral consciousness of our nation – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

God used a Black man as the Gatekeeper for the greatest outpouring of His spirit, since Pentecost – William Seymour, Feb 1906

·       South Africa, Korea, Canada, Brazil, Western Europe, Great Britain, Italy, Argentina, Russia & the Slavic Nations

·       Church f God in Christ, Assemblies of God, Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, United Pentecostal Churches, COG, The Foursquare Churches, Holiness & Charismatic

Why does God choose the Black man?

·       Because He loves Him

o   Beware – can’t just glory in being Black

·      To fulfill a special mission in this time

God has made us attractive

He has made our culture attractive

The world is receptive to us

European churches – lead by Africans

The world is sympathetic to us – our history & our plight

God has Chosen US to Run with His Message

"Go, tell the king what you have seen."

Ahimaaz, you have no news ready

Remember Jonah – it’s not all about us

Ps 68:31

Envoys will come out of Egypt;

Ethiopia will quickly stretch out her hands to God.

Stretched out hands is a prayer position – 1 Tim 2:8

Mark 11:25

Whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone,

forgive him,

that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.

Ex 17:11-12

And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed;

and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
